Dubai Skyline

In cranes, dubai, photography, skyline, UAE on October 15, 2007 at 4:41 pm

The city of Dubai in the United Arab Emirates is literally bristling with tower cranes; in fact, it is estimated that Dubai alone accounts for approximately one-fifth of the world’s fleet of tower cranes. Bolstered by rising petroleum revenues over recent years, Dubai’s construction boom continues unabated.

The picture below which I clicked on one hot August evening in 2006, bears testimony to the fact above.

‘The Decisive Moment’?

In decisive moment, Henry Cartier-Bresson, photography on October 14, 2007 at 4:37 pm

Can this pic qualify for the ‘Decisive Moment’ as defined by Henri Cartier-Bresson – the French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism?

Cartier-Bresson once told the Washington Post in 1957: “Photography is not like painting. There is a creative fraction of a second when you are taking a picture. Your eye must see a composition or an expression that life itself offers you, and you must know with intuition when to click the camera. That is the moment the photographer is creative.

Oop! The Moment! Once you miss it, it is gone forever.“ (Source: wikipedia)

First click (post) for the blog!

In macro, photography, shot on October 13, 2007 at 5:45 pm

Hey folks! Glad to have a blog dedicated to photography – another facet of me – and spread the ‘flash’ of various aspects of photography that I am aware of. Cant think of anything virtuoso to upload here in the first post…had tried a macro shot of a flower sometime back while I was in S’pore (well my way of lighting the inaugral lamp!!)
